The Warrensburg R-VI School District is fully accredited.
Under the state's accreditation process, known as the Missouri School Improvement Program (MSIP), each school district is evaluated every year.
District Demographics
The R-VI District covers 121 square miles in central Johnson County. The population of the district is well educated with almost 38% possessing a college degree of some type. Overall the population is heavily inclined toward youth with 66% under age 40. Whiteman Air Force Base and the University of Central Missouri are the largest area employers, however, manufacturing and distribution plants such as Dollar Tree, EnerSys Products, Stahl's Specialty and Swisher Mower and Machine are very important. The median home value in the district is approximately $70,000. Economic and population forecasts indicate strong, continued, and stable growth.
The Warrensburg School District founded in 1866 is located in Johnson County, Missouri, and just an hour’s drive from Kansas City, Missouri. The district employs over 500 staff members who serve approximately 3,400 preK-12 students at nine schools. Teachers average 13 years of classroom experience and 60 percent hold advanced degrees. District wide, the average student-to-teacher ratio is 17 to 1.
In 2016, the school district completed over $12.5 million in remodeling and renovations. Additional building renovations and the construction of a District Activities Complex began in the summer of 2020 with scheduled completion in 2021.
The Warrensburg School District is a leader in the integration of technology in instruction. As of the 2020-21 school year, Warrensburg is a one-to-one district.
The school system has a Preschool program, full-day kindergarten program, early childhood special education, and before and after school child care. All schools also have full-time counselors and social workers to support students.
High school students can take advantage of the A+ program, and dual credit classes in a variety of subjects. College credit is offered through both the University of Central Missouri and the University of Missouri-Kansas City, and State Fair Community College. Service Learning is also an integral part of the curriculum throughout the district.
Preparing Johnson County students and adults for rewarding careers is possible through the Warrensburg Area Career Center. WACC offers programs in information technology management, computer programming, nursing, automobile mechanics, auto body repair, agriculture, building trades, office technology, and cosmetology.
